Telecaster Tele Whats the best way to position the pickups in a Fender 50's classic mexican Telecaster?
Just bought myself a classic 50's model Tele and with the pickup switch pushed far right the first 2 or 3 strings have a very sharp, high sound off them! it still sounds great and i havent gone near the pickups yet but how could i solve this problem? Anyone with any knowledge i'd be grateful of your suggestions!
oh i'm playing through a Fender Frontman Series 212R too by the way!
Cheers!
Telecasters are always on the high pitched side. If you are looking to get rid of some that you can do a number of things.
1) Lower the pickups (so the strings will not resinate through them so much).
2) Buy a couple new single coil pickups (of your choice) Seymor Duncan's are always a good way to go.
3) Lower just the G,B,& e string side of the pick up (this way you will lose some of the high pitch and keep some of your lows.
If lowering them doesnt work you might have to buy a couple new single coils.
Good Luck

Fender Telecaster Tele Please tell me where I can find out how much US Fender Tele is worth. Ser # E 809 327 Not on Fender site.?
I have looked for price of Fender Telecaster on Fender.com for information but the price link is not working. I would so appreciate anyone's help. It is a US model (don't have model number). Serial Number is E 809327
Wanting to sell guitar.
Hi! From your serial number, it would appear to be a 1988 or 1989 USA-made model (see http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instru… ). Take a look at the listings on Craig's List and eBay, which will give you some idea of actual sales figures. You can also check the Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide (see http://www.amazon.com/Official-Vintage-G… ), available at most local libraries and book stores (Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.). Look up your particular year and model, and it will give you the most realistic price range (based on comparable sales) the instrument would sell within. Best regards, Dana
Fender Telecaster or Gibson SG: for punk, rockabilly, surf and ska?
Can't decide. Looking to make first big purchase to go w/ Marshall "DSL100MLB and MC412 Half Stack" & a "Line 6 Floor POD Plus Guitar Multi Effects Pedal." Influenced by The Clash (Joe Strummer- Tele), Social D (early Mike Ness - SG), but also looking for something versitile enough to tackle surf rock & ska...
Telecaster Bigsby Telecaster problems need help!!!?
the tone knob on my telecaster has become completely unresponsive and very irritating because it seems to be stuck on full. I have performed several mods on my guitar but this is the first time I've had a problem like this.
Mods:
Bigsby b5 vibrato
Three saddle bridge
rewiring of tone output to go to volume output instead of volume input
I'm aware that grounding issues from the bigsby and bridge can cause tone problems and wiring it wrong can too, but this is a new issue and everything was working fine a couple weeks ago with all the modifications on. Does anyone know whats going on with my guitar and what I can do to fix it?
Sounds like you have a bad pot. Easy fix, pots are cheap too. I'd just head to your nearest guitar shop and pick up a new pot. It might be the rewire too. But really does sound like you're tone pot is shot.
Telecaster Body Epiphone SG or Stratocaster or Telecaster?
I am currently in a band and play rock, squier has been giving me some problems sound and input jack (want to fix but not worth it) I was looking at the gibson SG, too expensive but the epiphone sg seems nice. But i am a fender guy, i like the feel of the strat but i heard it and it sounds like a squier except maybe a little bit warmer and the neck is better, its body is comfortable. The telecaster, i don't know never played it. Which guitar is the best for you. I am running on a budget.
All those guitars are great for rock. The Telecaster can play rock but is also really good for country (i hate country btw) the Stratocaster is like the guitar built for rock. The strat is also perfect for blues, so if you play oldies rock that would be great. The SG is good for blues also, but i like fenders better. The Strat is a very verstile and u said your were a fender guy, so stick with your guts and get a Stratocaster. The main thing is really what you want, but i would get a strat if your in a rock band.
i wanna change my telecaster's stock pickups to humbuckers for heavier kind of playing but i'm not too sure if humbukcers can fit into tele bodies. anyone out there done similar mods before? is the cavity in the body of the tele big enough?
you can buy humbucker pickups that fit in a single coil pickup slot.
