American Usa Deluxe Is it possible to transfer a UK mortgage to the USA?
I ust returned from my first trip over to the US (visiting my husband's family in Texas - he's American).
I'd like to move over there, and have noticed that for the price of our little UK cottage we could have a 4 bed, 3 bathroom gated-community deluxe abode over there. I also rather like the place (sunny, and the people struck me as generally quite optimistic).
It wouldn't be for a year or two, but I'd like to know how possible it would be logistically. We have three quarters of our UK mortgage left to pay, so couldn't release the capital on it. What, if any, would be our best route? Can you recommend any books, etc? I'm rather naive over this sort of thing!
Thanks!
If you have 25% equity in your UK home, just sell it and pay off the mortgage. You'll have a tidy pile to put towards a purchase elsewhere.
You can't "transfer" a UK mortgage, nor would you want to. Fixed rate mortgages are the rule in the US -- for the LIFE of the mortgage! And current rates are below 6% PA!
One caution about TX though. Although the weather can be lovely at this time of year, you'll have a different opinion in July and August where temps can easily exceed 40C in the daytime and don't drop much at night. And do keep in mind that most of TX is in the heart of "Tornado Alley" so do be sure that whatever you buy has a proper storm cellar!

@ me! yes, im doing a seperate thread on how to string a guitar, but this one is solely accessories related.
You should really include how to correctly string a guitar.
You could also include:
Wireless Kits
The different types of plectrums (example: grip ones, shaped ones)
Pickups (Kind of an accessory, as you can change and upgrade these, lots do)
