Gibson Electric Guitar Facts I need recording electric guitar tips?
I'm new to recording. I use garage band as my software and an audiobox usb audio interface to plug into my mac. I have a gibson les paul studio and i use a line6 podxt live for my effects/distortion/amp models and what not. When i record my guitar, it usually doesnt sound the way I want it to. It doesnt sound full and complete. In fact it sounds pretty weak. Is it my tone thats the problem or is it my equipment
A good way around this is to use a mic instead of going direct to the USB interface. Connect a mic to the XLR mic input on the interface and use that to mic your amp:

Put the mic right in front of the amp - you'll probably get a more real sounding recording.
Electric Guitar By Gibson Epiphone explorer vs. Gibson flying v guitar?
I am a developing guitarist and for my 16th birthday I'm thinking of getting a new electric guitar.my parents give me money every year but the problem is i cant decide between a Epiphone explorer or a Gibson flying v. I'm having a summer job as well so i know i can pay for a flying v by myself . i cant decide(PERSONALLY, I'M THINKING OF JUST BUYING BOTH) What do you guys think?
1.I have a summer job to pay for one or both
2.when i said "when my parents give me money every year", i meant for my birthday
I have an Epiphone Explorer, and two Gibson Explorers. Though I don't have a Gibson 'V, I do have an Epiphone V.
So . . .
Epiphone makes a great guitar but - despite what anyone says - you do get more from getting a real Gibson. Gibson uses a better finish process on their instraments that lets the wood breath and age better, and the Gibson's pickups are much hotter.
Though I love the Explorer's shape, my Epi 'V is more comfortable for me to play and I always seem to find myself reaching for it over its brothers.
So, between your two choices I'd personaly take . . . wait for it . . . . wait for it . . . . Neither.
The current Gibson V's are not as cool as the older ones that had the strings through the body (my opinion) and, unless you plan on doing a lot of custom work to the Epi, you may not be happy with its sound. As the other guy said, go play a lot of guitars. Jacksons, Ibanez, the whole freak'n lot. Find one you dig and get it.
I have a beginner guitar and wondering if i should upgrade or buy a new one?
I want the sound like Tom delonge (Blink 182) guitar...
should I by a new guitar to get that sound
or should I upgrade the one i have...
the guitar i have is Maestro by Gibson - Single Cutaway Electric Guitar-Blue
The Link:

Whats a better choice?
If I upgrade what do I need to upgrade to?
Maestro is just about the worst guitar in the world, possibly tied with First Act for that title. Don't put one penny into it. It's time for a new, better guitar.

That's not a question I can answer for you. It all depends on what music you're interested in and what kind of sound and feel you're looking for. A Fender American Strat is a popular choice as is a Gibson Les Paul. Even better is a PRS, one of the American-made models. If you want something more versatile and exotic, get an XOX Handle.
Schecter Classic Solo Which guitar is better: Schecter C-1 Classic, or Schecter Solo-6 Hellraiser?
I need to choose which axe to buy! Any suggestions based on personal experiments? Please explain in detail
Hellraiser, reasoning for is they are amazing feeling active pickups and yeah it's just plain pretty...but also it depends on what music you play. If you want an all around guitar go with the classic, if you want a metal sound go with hellraiser

Traditional Plus What pickups should i put in my les paul Traditional?
What would be a better bridge pickup to jam into my les paul for a led zeppelin or AC/DC tone...keep the stock 57' classic plus, the seymour duncan JB or Pearly Gates, or a rio grande BBQ pickup...advice?
To get the AC/DC or Led Zep sound, Super DiMarzio is your best bet. I have an old '69 Gold Top LP like Jimmie Page and the sound is identical 100%. The DiMarzios do a helluva of a job. What is good about those pickup is that, if you lower the volume, they are super cleand and when you crank them, you get the dirty raw sound.
Your choice..... Not that Seymour are garbage or anything. Far from it. I have Seymours installed on my oodl 1962 Strat and on 2 or 3 other Gibsons LP I own. But, for the AC/DC Tone, DiMarzio is the way to go. Don't forget that in those days, DiMarzio was the way to go and Seymour wasn't known.
Can the prestigious university accept a rebounding (former slacker) non-traditional student?
Would prestigious universities (Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford) accept older (non-traditional age 29 & up) American students who have attained very good (GPA 3.7) to superior (4.0) GPA straight from public university after years of diligent study & academic skill retaining plus prerequisite ACT or SAT to be admitted as graduates or transfer in the "third or fourth" year?
Does it depend on the strictly rigorous admission policy of each educational institution that may require evidence of volunteering and extracurricular activities common among traditional students?
I am interested in RIT or Columbia University as a "future graduate student" who have rebound from flunking out high school (passed GED in '97 but barely) and transfer to a state public university from community college after 3-6 years (student alternating between PT & FT depending on family, jobs & economic sustainability).
If you have a bachelor's degree, then what happened in high school doesn't matter because you're applying for graduate school. The only thing that matters is your GPA in undergrad, your GRE, your recommendations, and your statement of purpose. All applicants for graduate school are viewed the same way. It helps if you have some research background in your undergraduate experience, but great recommendations can outweigh your lack of experience. Good luck!
