Gretsch Electromatic Hollow Body Where Can I Find a Gretsch hollow body for $200 in Toronto?
Hello there,
I've recently come across a Gretsch G5120 Electromatic Hollow Body at Steve's Music on Queen Street. I tried it out, and it was literally love at first sigh...errr...play. Unfortunately, I can't shell out $700 to buy it. Does anyone know where I might find it for $200 in or around Toronto? Unfortunately, the internet is out of the question as far as ordering guitars online goes. I know this seems like an impossible feat, but maybe someone has an answer (short of stealing it). I could even settle for an Epiphone.
Serious answers only please,
Thanks
I found one on Craigslist just now,Nothing near a G5, but it is a Gretsch Acoustic, $150.
Looks like the average there is $400-800 , good luck.

Both answers or correct. What's a penny. I looked at the web site and did not see anything on the page for $12.00 My dad bough a guitar very much like this one back in 1955 and it was $600.00 back then . Gretsch and Gibson guitars or manufactured in Boonsville Arkansas.
Gretsch Jet Is the Gretsch Pro Jet good for classic rock/metal?
I was thinking about getting one but I don't know if they're any good for AC/DC or classic metal at all? I play a large variety of stuff but it'd be really useful. thanks
That's a really cool guitar, but it definitely would not be a good fit for AC/DC or metal type stuff. That's a guitar with a more rockabilly or vintage rock and roll sound. You'd want something like a Gibson SG or something like that with "hotter" pickups.

hi, i just got a Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet bass. you can check it out here: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gretsch-Guitars-G2202-Electromatic-Junior-Jet-Bass-Guitar-100602747-i1320394.gc its my first bass.
anyway, i kinda knew it was smaller than other basses, but i never new that it being smaller was bad thing. its a short scale bass, and ive gotten alot of feedback that they aren't as good as a long scale bass. But, i have heard that this particular Gretsch bass is a good one, and can anyone tell me if this bass rivals the sounds of longer basses, or if there really is a problem with it at all? I am a big person though, so would a longer bass be better? i am comfortible with it and i love the style, but i have this nagging feeling that i should get a longer one based on what everyone has been saying about the sound quality and ease of slapping. I also love slapping, would this Gretsch be good for it? I have plenty of time to get a refund, but this bass only cost me $175 ^^
If you have bigger fingers the bigger scale is better. This is an instrument you might want to keep around if you want to get a different sound, but as I found out with mini-sized guitars there is just no substitute for the real deal - go back and get a full-scale bass. There is nothing wrong with short-scale basses if you use them right, but they just don't seem to sound as "full" as the 34" scale basses. Also, if you get used to playing the short-scale bass, switching back to the full-size might be a little difficult for a while.
