Which one do you think would be for say a alt rockl/rocknroll/psychedelia/experimental thing, the ES 175 or the Emperor? What would you say the sound difference is between the two?
Im thinking about buying a epiphone emperor VC, the guy says the cable jack needs tightened and he says the action "seems fine" but needs to be "set up" by a guitar shop to be in tip top shape. So i was wondering how much would something like thhat cost? Also how much would it cost to fix a warped acoustic to tip top shape?
There's alot of different variables when it comes to repairs. It mainly depends on where you're going to get them done. If you're just going to some music store in the mall or something like that, they're going to charge you a bit more. To have a guitar set up (intonate it, clean it, tighten it, re-string it ect.) that could cost you anywhere between 30 - 60 dollars.
I highly recommend looking for a guitar repair specialist in your local area. I used a phone book to find a guy who does repair work on guitars for a living, and knows what he's talking about. You'll get a MUCH better service and MUCH better price out of someone like that, than just a retail guitar store somewhere.
As for fixing a warped acoustic guitar, that can be a bit of a bigger task. You'd have to have your repair guy, or store person take a look at it and give you a good idea. That can go from somewhere like 100 - 300 dollars.
I also found a zzsounds review that states "Good pickups, good tuners, hell good everything. Only problem: Get toggle switch replaced as soon as you can. It breaks easily."
If you haven't soldered before, now's the time to give it a try. http://www.epemag.wimborne.co.uk/solderfaq.htm#quick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLfXXRfRIzY It's pretty easy and you can get an iron and solder cheap from Walmart. Good Luck!!
For awhile there, ol' Pete had a pretty nifty solo career going. Who Came First, his 1972 solo debut, sidestepped comparisons to the Who by tackling spiritual themes with low-key charm, qualities that resurfaced on Rough Mix, his wonderful 1977 duo record with Ronnie Lane...
Aside from the pickups what is the difference between the epiphone sheraton 2 and the gibson 335?
It seems to me that these two guitars share virtually all the same components, so why the price difference? As the owner of an epiphone sheraton 2 myself i can't help but wondering, if i fitted it with gibson pickups would it essentially be the same as a gibson 335?
The biggest difference is where it's made. The Epiphone is made in China (or Korea) and the Gibson is made in the US. So the labor cost is way different. The wood quality is also a higher grade and the neck is solid wood on the Gibson. The Sheraton has a laminated neck. But are the differences worth $2000? Probably not. Somebody buying a Gibson is buying the name as well as the guitar.
Gibson Epiphone Flying V Guitar Epiphone Flying V vs. Gibson SG Special?
I've been thinking about what guitar i should get for christmas, and i narrowed it down to either one of those two. They both have their advantages, but i'm really torn between them both.
Which should i get?
I don't like Flying V's, even when they are Gibsons. That's just my taste of course. People who play them swear by them. Now, as far as the ANY Epiphone vs a Gibson SG, there is no comparision. An SG is one of the finest guitars ever made. Has the sound and feel of a Les Paul, but it's lighter and I think it just "fits" better when you play it. I love the thin body and the neck. And the sound is still that classic Gibson sound. I'm not saying that Epiphones are garbage. They are a nice option for a good guitar at a lower price. They share many Gibson design elements and electronics. But they are not Gibsons. And even amongst Gibsons, there is little that really compares with a nice SG.
Epiphone Guitar Prices Epiphone or Jasmine by Takamine acoustic guitar?
I am going to buy a pretty inexpensive acoustic guitar to use. The two that I found are the Epiphone Dr-100 acoustic and the Jasmine by Takamine S35 Acoustic. They are both priced the same, and I was wondering which you guys would recommend. Thanks
Take the S35 Takamine and don`t look at the price. The guitar is inexpensive but it has a beautiful tone and surprisingly, the fingerboard feels good and has a low action. Another key factor is reliability. Takamine made its mark. Epiphone is not a bad guitar but does`t compare in workmanship to Takamine.
I tested both of these and the projection of Takamine is far superior than Epiphone as well as the tone.

Gibson Or Epiphone Guitar?
I really want a Gibson Les Paul but i can't afford it. The Highest price my parents will let me go is some where around 650 max. So that leaves me in the Epiphone Price range. And i'm afraid to buy one because i'm super sure about its tone and if the Quality is as good as a Gibson. To tell you what i'm looking for is a performance level guitar because i play in a band and i really want a hard rock sound like Slash, Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, and then be able to get those rich and soulful tones. Please someone help me i'd really appriciate it.
well gibson definitely has a better sound than an epiphone but my friend coodnt afford it either so he bought a epiphone les paul it still gives that sound i think ur looking for although it may not be as good as an authentic.
Peavey Wolfgang Electric Guitar Guitar players/owners - advice please?
I want to buy my husband an electric guitar for christmas, but am getting confused about just which one.
He already owns lots of guitars, but I know he's been looking at Peavey Wolfgang's Eddie Van Halen, and he's a big fan of Gibson Les Pauls and Fender strats, of which he has a few already.( He likes to play bluesy-rock music BTW)
I only want to be spending about £250 ($500), and would like to get him something different, but of the same sound and quality as the ones he has already.
Can someone with as much passion and knowledge about guitars recommend anything for me?
thanks to all answers
thanks for your thoughts Areku, but I already have found two geniune Les Pauls for £250.
Well I know my husband would kill for a Les Paul. Hes been wanting one forever however you said your husband already has some. Why not get him the one hes been looking at? I think its your best bet. And just be sure the Les Pauls you are looking at are truely genuine. My husband and I went into a store where the guy tried to sell him a Les Paul that wasn't a Gibson at all. Actually it wasn't even a Les Paul, it just resembled one and he tried to say it was one. I know your not dumb, but just watch for scams, especially around the holidays. Good luck and i hope you find something!
