I'm getting the clothes online, not in the store so I can't try it on.

What to use when Goodnites are too small- and leak for a bed wetter?


My son just turned 7 and the L-XL size of the Goodnites don't fit that well now...he can probably wear them for a while but the leak and won't fit much longer. I tried the size small adult pull ups from walmart and they are huge and leaked. Any ideas? He is a normal size kid- 7 years old and wears a size 8 in boys clothes.

You could try using Sanitary "nappies" for lack of a better description. The ones that are made for ladies with incontinence. They should fit ok and are still the shape of underware (not just a pad). Have a look in your supermarket otherwise try a pharmacy.

What do you think is the more versatile guitar?


I'm planning to get an electric guitar but I'm havig diffuculty choosing. I have three options to choose from. The first one is a Squier Tele HS Fat Tele which is nice guitar when I tried it in a guitar store.
My second option is a Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst which has push pull for going to humbucker to single coil.
And my final option is a warmoth fat tele custom guitar.

Sorry for the wall of text.

If you're looking for versatility and at some point want to have a nice fat sound I'd go with the Gibson. You can make a heavy body guitar sound a bit more "fender-like" by switching to a single coil pick up, but you can't make light guitars like teles ever sound quite as fat as a Gibson. I'm a die hard Fender man myself, but in this case the better choice is the Gibson.

How to test a fridge parts, fridge isn't cooling?


I have a fridge (bottom freezer) that has stopped cooling. The light is still on, the digital controls are out, and there's no cooling on the top or bottom.

I'm told it is likely one of a few things:
# The compressor
# The Thermostat
# The overload, relay, or capacitor
# The defrost timer
# The condenser fan motor

How do I test these things? I have a multimeter, lots of tools, and I've done a lot of work on other appliances, but not fridges.

You have a board out if your digital control is blank AND it is not cooling. (with some failures and brands you can have a blank control but it still works).

If you have a digital control you do not even have a thermostat, it is electronic using thermistors.

Way too little information. You didn't even give the brand. i.e. GE has two boards and for them the one you see is only a temperature control board, the motherboard is in the back. With whirlpool and frigidaire they have a single board as do some Amanas. Some Amana and Maytags had a separate power board.

If the control is blank likely either the board is fried or you lost the transformer that powers it. It is possible the power isn't getting there for some reason but that is not as likely.

First you need to find the tech sheet they tuck in the units. Can't tell you where because different brands put them in different places and the location can very with model and age too.

If you can bring up your model number someplace like SearPartsDirect sometimes it shows the location of the tech sheet, likely on the cabinet picture or maybe with the control.

Without specialized equipment and/or a very good knowledge of the particular unit you can not really "diagnose" boards. Mainly you check power in and power out of them. If it is wrong it is bad.

I will smell them first. A burnt board or component on a board is not hard to detect. You can pull them and visually inspect them for burnt components as well. It is a little easier in your case if it is just dead as opposed to some function not working. In the latter case it can be that a separate component shorted out and took out the board. When that happens you risk losing a new board if the bad component is not replaced also.

But as I said, that is less likely in your case with it out totally. If everything is on a single board, I would verify it has power to it and replace the board.

As a tech I kept used rebuilt boards for testing. That was the simplest way. Replace it to test. No real need to diagnose further.

With electronics problems as seems your case it is really beyond the ability of most to do it easily. Even most techs don't understand the electronics well, but don't really need to. We replace parts until it works. lol.

Since boards, once installed, can't be returned you run the risk of buying unneeded parts that eventually cost you more than a repair call. Or you risk blowing a new board. This is more like computer work than technical or mechanical work. (they are computer boards!)

Is there a way to build a display case that only shows what is inside when you flick a switch?


I want to build a display case that when the light inside is off you cannot see what is in there. I am going off the inverted concept of tinted glass where you cannot see what is inside if there is a light on the outside. I think if I put tinted glass on the outside with the tinted part facing the outside of the case, and I put a small light on the inside, you will only be able to see what is inside that case if the light is flicked on, otherwise it is dark. is this possible?

Your idea of using tinted glass and black interior is very good. It actually does not matter whether the tinting is on the inside or on the outside, as long as the amount of light entering your box is much less than the reflected light from the glass surface (typically 4% per surface, at normal incidence). You would require about 95% opacity for your tinted glass for the items inside the box to remain "invisible" while the inside light is off.

How to build a Christmas village display case/coffee table?


I have Christmas village pieces and no place to display them in season. I'm thinking of removing my coffee table and replacing it with a display case that could also serve as coffee table. I'm looking for something that would be elevated (for cords) with a clear top. The sides do not have to be clear as the back of the buildings is not interesting. AND it has to be easily taken apart for storage. All on a budget, of course. I'd appreciate templates, ideas, resources for clear tops, etc. Thank you!

My first thought is a furniture consignment shop and/or a commercial business consignments shop/retail outlet that would sell Jewelry store type display cases, perhaps you'd have to modify.

To actually construct such a thing, not knowing if you have the ability, could be as costly and time consuming.

What you're talking about is commonly called a Diorama and Not knowing the size of your collection, or size of the largest building, you'd certainly have to know. The height of a coffee table bothers me just a bit, in that it would be rather low to the floor, in which case, if it was mine, I'd want the sides to be clear as well as the top.

Also not knowing any use besides an on view display case I might want Plexi or safety glass rather than plate. The case itself,e specially if you build or buy can probably be separated from a base. But what you're talking about, as a coffee table might only be 18 inches to the top/viewing area and half of that might be the Diorama?

What do I need to buy to use guitar effects and how do I use them?


I'm somewhat of a beginner with guitar and I want to start using some guitar effects. What's the full list of things I need?
Well I like to play indie and alternative rock stuff. I hope that helps a bit.

You would need a few pages to pack in all you can buy. There are literally dozens of effect pedals and it depends what you are trying to play. Do you like heavy metal, blues, indie rock. I suggest you go to your nearest music shop, take your guitar and ask can you try a few pedals. Wah is an old favourite and distortion is a good standard. Try things out and see what you like. God luck and remember there are only three ways to become a great guitarist. Practice practise and practise some more. Good Luck

what guitar effects will sound good with a solid state 15w crate amp?


im 14 years old and im really good at guitar but i don't have the money to buy a nice tube stack or something and all the pedals and effects ive been looking at say they only go good with tube amps so i need some good advise on what i should do =/

coming from someone who has been playing over 30 years and plays shows almost every weekend i'll give you a little inside information on what goes into good sound......

first, good sound isn't a crate amp....those things are poor quality at best and worthless any other time but since you have one you just have to work with it.

your lack of a good sound is coming from the small speaker in the amp and the low wattage. i haven't seen one of those small crates in awhile but i'm willing to bet it's a 8" or maybe 10" speaker? ....with only 15 watts trying to drive it? there's your problem.

good sound quality comes from wattage and from speaker size compatible with the wattage of the amp....having said that, you don't have to go far above 15 watts to get good sound, but at 15 watts you have to drive that speaker too hard to get any good volume out of it, which is going to distort the sound and not in a good way. if you get a 3o-50 watt amp it will last you for many many many years

can't say i've seen any effects either that are 'only good with tube amps'? that sounds like a load of BS to me.....most pedal and/or effects units will play equally well with tube or solid state amps......i have among my many amps, a tube fender, a tube peavey, a solid state marshall and a solid state crown and i mix and match effects pedals, rack units and floor pedal combos with all of them with no ill effects.......

you will find that a 'tube stack' is a waste of money unless you are playing at the level i am in clubs with 200 or more people and you need to project the sound through a crowded bar...to play in your bedroom with one of those things is just overkill.....i played with 2 -100 watt marshall stacks when i first started and it was too much of a good thing lol.....
