Gibson Epiphone Flying V Guitar Epiphone Flying V vs. Gibson SG Special?
I've been thinking about what guitar i should get for christmas, and i narrowed it down to either one of those two. They both have their advantages, but i'm really torn between them both.
Which should i get?
I don't like Flying V's, even when they are Gibsons. That's just my taste of course. People who play them swear by them. Now, as far as the ANY Epiphone vs a Gibson SG, there is no comparision. An SG is one of the finest guitars ever made. Has the sound and feel of a Les Paul, but it's lighter and I think it just "fits" better when you play it. I love the thin body and the neck. And the sound is still that classic Gibson sound. I'm not saying that Epiphones are garbage. They are a nice option for a good guitar at a lower price. They share many Gibson design elements and electronics. But they are not Gibsons. And even amongst Gibsons, there is little that really compares with a nice SG.
Peavey Wolfgang Electric Guitar Guitar players/owners - advice please?
I want to buy my husband an electric guitar for christmas, but am getting confused about just which one.
He already owns lots of guitars, but I know he's been looking at Peavey Wolfgang's Eddie Van Halen, and he's a big fan of Gibson Les Pauls and Fender strats, of which he has a few already.( He likes to play bluesy-rock music BTW)
I only want to be spending about £250 ($500), and would like to get him something different, but of the same sound and quality as the ones he has already.
Can someone with as much passion and knowledge about guitars recommend anything for me?
thanks to all answers
thanks for your thoughts Areku, but I already have found two geniune Les Pauls for £250.
Well I know my husband would kill for a Les Paul. Hes been wanting one forever however you said your husband already has some. Why not get him the one hes been looking at? I think its your best bet. And just be sure the Les Pauls you are looking at are truely genuine. My husband and I went into a store where the guy tried to sell him a Les Paul that wasn't a Gibson at all. Actually it wasn't even a Les Paul, it just resembled one and he tried to say it was one. I know your not dumb, but just watch for scams, especially around the holidays. Good luck and i hope you find something!

I'm looking to upgrade to a nicer electric and I'm trying to decide between a Hamer sunburst or a Telecaster. The guitar store by my house is having great deals. The thing is, I like the telecaster feel better, but I like the Hamer look better. Any suggestions?
Ok ima buy a new guitar, its gonna be a
Hamer Sunburst guitar, and i want to know how big a guitar has to be considered miniature, i want a full sized guitar because well im a pretty big guy and i feel more comfortable with a big guitar. So please help
Try and play it as much as possible before you buy. Try others as well. Playing different guitars before you buy is the best way to make sure you pick wisely.
Ibanez Guitar PrIces What is the difference between the Ibanez Rg3efm1 and the Ibanez Rg3exqm1? Which is better?
Which one do you think I should purchase? What other electric Ibanez guitars of this price are good?
Hi Ali
Ibanez is a good guitar. Can't beat the price for a guitar that looks and sounds like the Rg3exqm. Only negatives are, the neck and headstock binding are painted and not real and the tuners don't feel as secure as my Jackson.
So if you are open minded, check out Jackson. It also has 24 frets, active electronics, basically, pretty similar looking but but but, the Jackson fingerboard is streamingly fast and super smooth.

Buying an Ibanez guitar advise please?
yeah basically I was looking at the GSA60 and the GRGR121EX. Which one is better, or is there another one in the same price range I should get? I play a Metal/rock/grunge style. Any opinions and advice would be much appreciated, cheers.
Is there that much difference between the two?
Do you use the tremelo? If not, get the GRGR121EX because it has no tremelo and it's not worth messing with one if you don't use it. You'll have far fewer tuning issues without it. If you want tremelo and like the HSS pickup configuration, get the GSA60. They're both great guitars but which one you should get depends entirely on what you want.
Personally, I think the GSA60 looks better, but I'd get the GRGR121EX of these 2 because I don't use the tremelo and prefer humbuckers to single coil anyway, and that would be especially true for metal/rock/grunge style music.
Left Handed Flying V Guitars is there a left handed V shaped guitar made?
cant seem to find a left handed flying v shape any one know of one?
There are a few of them. Dean makes one (see link 1). Gibson has one in their faded series (see link 2). Gibson also has a regular series lefty flying V (see link 3).
been playing guitar for around two years and think its time i moved up a bit in relation to what i play. i learned to play on an SG, but had to sell it to cover money issues. so i bought a replica SG, which is great, but i wouldnt mind something new. i like the les paul, flying V and explorer shapes but have a limited budget. also i am unfortunately left handed, and the market for left handers when it comes to good looking and sounding guitars on a tight budget is pretty much non existant. anyone got any ideas?
Jackson have some really good shapes of guitar, and almost all of them are available for lefty's. Jackson also do a couple of flying V models. Click the link below for some idea of new prices:
