Millennium Peavey Help me choose an amp and my future bass!?
I'm buying a Peavey Millennium BXP 4- string bass in a week or two.
What Amp should I buy with it? I heard Peavey amps are good. I can spend about $100 unless I find the bass and the rest of the accessories at a cheaper price.
Are any of these okay for playing with a drummer? What would you recommend? I like Punk music like Rancid, NoFX, Social Distortion, Clash, Addicts... Does the bass guitar play good with punk sounds?
My total budget is 425 dollars
Oh Well there were two peaveys.
and two Pignoise amps.
I am looking into getting a peavey millennium for my first bass guitar, but I can't decided if I should go with active or passive pickups. The passive pickup option is a cheaper by a pretty good amount, how much of a difference will it make?
Most decent (at least) active pickups will add more headroom (wider frequency range) and higher gain (louder) than passive pickups. This is from basically the active pickups have a small op amp built in the circuitry inside the guitar. The downsides to active, however, is you have to be careful of your amp. You could fry your preamp if your bass is too hot, so start off with the volume all the way down, then bring it up to the desired level. If it starts distorting, then you're way too hot and should bring it down about 10-20%. Generally, they do sound noticeably better though.
The advantage to passive pickups, however, is that you don't have to worry about changing batteries, which sucks you need to in the middle of a show. If you go active, change your batteries before every show to make sure your good.
Good luck!
Yamaha Guitars Prices I want to sell my guitar. It's a yamaha jr1. How much should I sell it for?
It's this one: http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/products/productdetail/0,,CNTID%25253D60119%252526CTID%25253D600026%252526CNTYP%25253DPRODUCT,00.html
The retail price is $199.99. Many places sell it for around $129 new. How much should I sell it for? I'm making flyers too so what can I do to make it eyecatching? What information should I put on there? How should I have people contact me? I want to list my email but I'm afraid of getting spammed... and If i put my phone number down, I don't want to get a bunch of annoying prank phone calls.
Assuming it's used, I'd advertise it for $100.00 firm, meaning you want $100.00 for it and you're not going to haggle. Your flyer should have a picture of the guitar on it and describe the condition, how old it is, whether it comes with a case or a gig bag or any other extras, and you should indicate that it's a great starter guitar for a young player or student. If you're worried about spam or prank calls, you might consider listing a cell phone number and simply put "leave message" on your flyer. That way you can check your messages once a day or so and you should only get messages from people who are interested in buying.

Yamaha or Admira? Who makes the better quality classical guitar for around £250-£350?
Its coming up to my brothers 21st and the family want to buy him a decent classical guitar. He's been playing his crappy secondhand one for a couple of years now but hasnt got any money for a new one. Been looking around on tinternet and it seems these two brands have a good variety in this price range. Does anyone know what the quality is like on these two brands?
I am only familiar with the Yamaha Classical guitar. It has unbelievable tone and quality for the money. Yamaha gets MY vote.
Epiphone Guitar Prices Epiphone or Jasmine by Takamine acoustic guitar?
I am going to buy a pretty inexpensive acoustic guitar to use. The two that I found are the Epiphone Dr-100 acoustic and the Jasmine by Takamine S35 Acoustic. They are both priced the same, and I was wondering which you guys would recommend. Thanks
Take the S35 Takamine and don`t look at the price. The guitar is inexpensive but it has a beautiful tone and surprisingly, the fingerboard feels good and has a low action. Another key factor is reliability. Takamine made its mark. Epiphone is not a bad guitar but does`t compare in workmanship to Takamine.
I tested both of these and the projection of Takamine is far superior than Epiphone as well as the tone.

Gibson Or Epiphone Guitar?
I really want a Gibson Les Paul but i can't afford it. The Highest price my parents will let me go is some where around 650 max. So that leaves me in the Epiphone Price range. And i'm afraid to buy one because i'm super sure about its tone and if the Quality is as good as a Gibson. To tell you what i'm looking for is a performance level guitar because i play in a band and i really want a hard rock sound like Slash, Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, and then be able to get those rich and soulful tones. Please someone help me i'd really appriciate it.
well gibson definitely has a better sound than an epiphone but my friend coodnt afford it either so he bought a epiphone les paul it still gives that sound i think ur looking for although it may not be as good as an authentic.
Thru Electric how do you wire electric baseboard heat with a thermostat, do you run the feed thru the thermostat first?
the high voltage line should never run through a thermostat.
there should be a control point on the heater that controls
the temperature and one that supplies the line voltage.
models of baseboard heaters differ so i can't nail yours down
without more information. good luck.

can you get internet thru electric power?
As electric power is used in most communications then electronic surveilance can and does use this residual for monitoring.
There are safety issues, of course, in doing this commercially as the usual practise is to keep power as far removed from transmission of signal as possible.
Physically speaking though, if information can be placed on an am carrier wave and transmitted, then it can be put on a 50/60 Hz power line. Information transmitted thus would be open to all and sundry on the power grid as well as being in conflict with any and all other transmissions sent in this style.
As for the power, the cleaner the supply the better so you'd have to clean up the power signal at the Rx station.
Epiphone Guitar Prices closest epiphone guitar to a gibson?
im looking for another new guitar and i want and epiphone because they are good and gibson is out of my price range. what is the clostest epiphone to a gibsons sound under 600 dollars? also, if i could replace my pickups on my special 2, what would be the best ones to make it sound like a gibson?
best answer gets 10 pts.
thanks for all answers
I would say it depends on which type of Gibson guitar you want.
If you want a Les Paul, I'd look at the Epiphone Les Paul Standard. They cost around $430-450, depending on the finish that you get. There are many versions of the Les Paul that Epiphone makes, but the Standard is the most direct counterpart to the Gibson Les Paul Standard.
If you want an SG, look at the Epiphone G-400. They cost around $350. Like the Les Paul Standard, the G-400 is meant to be a lower cost version of Gibson's famous SG.
If you want an ES-335 (semi-hollow, double cutaway guitar), look at the Epiphone Dot, or the Epiphone Dot Studio. Dots cost about $400. Dot Studios are about $250-270. Basically, the Dot Studio is the same, but with a matte finish, instead of glossy, and only one tone and one volume knob. They use the same wood, electronics, and pickups as the normal Dot.
There are other models that Gibson makes, such as the Flying V, Xplorer, and so on, but the 3 above are the most common ones that you'll see from Gibson.
Gibson sells the same pickups that they use in their own guitars. If you were to upgrade your Les Paul Special II, get some of their humbuckers.
That being said, I'd only consider upgrading the pickups as a last resort. Buy a higher quality Epiphone, such as the ones I mentioned above. The Les Paul Special II is a good starter guitar for under $200, but it isn't as good as the Epiphone Les Paul Standard. The Epiphone Les Paul Standard would last longer, look better, and sound much better right from the start. Down the road, if you wanted, you could always replace the stock Epiphone pickups with Gibson pickups. It would sound a hell of a lot like a Gibson Les Paul, and for a fraction of the price.

Which Epiphone Guitar should I pick up?
So after alot of thought, I've decided to pick up an Epiphone Les Paul model guitar (I can't afford those Gibsons).
What Epiphone Les Paul model would you suggest? Is there anything that I should put into consideration, or avoid? There are so many models and such, and I'm lost deciding which one works best.
My price range is $399-$599.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Many epiphone guitars are between the range of 399-599. choosing what model is really up to you. You seem to know a lot about brands. If you go to guitar center or even their web site you can see all the kinds. I've listed it on the post. with a range of 399-599 you can pretty much buy any kind of Epiphone Les Paul except for some signiture models. What's really nice is the quilted maple kind which fits your range. You will save a TON of money by goin through guitar center. I've used them for a lot of my effects (amplifiers, pedals, even software) and they work Fantastic. Hope this helps
