Voodoo Electric Guitar Should I get a half stack or a combo amp?
Hi.
I'm a guitar player needing an amp but I'm not sure what kind to get. I'm in a punk band and play through a crate half stack originally purchased for use with my electric bass. Well I got jipped on the half stack b/c I purchased it on e-bay before I bought it so it's almost unusable. Now I need an amp for my guitar.
We have a drummer, bass, player, vox, and me. How many watts do I need to be able to play shows? I've heard at least 100. Does it matter if the 100 watts come in the form of a half stack or a combo amp? I'm tight on money (college student), but I want to be loud enough to play clubs/battle of the bands/parties, etc.
Should I get a half stack(ex:blue voodoo)-100 watts
or a combo (ex: crate GLX212 http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/guitar_amplifiers/crate/glx212/)- 140 watts
you will have to carry that with you. and the 2-12 is much lighter. and should be enough. you can always add a 4-12 speaker with your 2-12 combo if you need more sound.

The Epic Battle Of The Jimi Hendrix Experience & The Who?
This is the third "epic battle" thing I've done. Here we go!
1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience or The Who
2. Debuts: Are You Experienced or The Who Sings My Generation
3. "Purple Haze" or "My Generation"
4. Who was better at Monterey Pop
5. Who was better at Woodstock
6. Noel Redding or John Entwistle
7. Mitch Mitchell or Moony
8. Electric Ladyland or Who's Next
9. Townshend or Hendrix
10. Singing: Roger Daltrey or Jimi Hendrix
11. Better live band
12. More influential (measuring may be hard)
13. Who smashed guitars better
14. Better band name
15. "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" or "Won't Get Fooled Again"
16. Better Cover: Hendrix doing Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower" or The Who doing Mose Allison's "Young Man Blues"
This one's quite boring!
1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience or The Who
This is hard for me--I like both equally. But, if I had to tip it one way or the other... I would say the Jimmy Hendrix Experience.
2. Debuts: Are You Experienced or The Who Sings My Generation
Are You Experienced. I have grown an immense liking for it. I guess I just listen to it more than I listen to the Who Sings My Generation.
3. "Purple Haze" or "My Generation"
My Generation.
4. Who was better at Monterey Pop
Eh... the Who.
5. Who was better at Woodstock
Jimi Hendrix. I mean, come on. I thought the Who were wonderful and great, but Jimi Hendrix... wow.
6. Noel Redding or John Entwistle
John Entwistle.
7. Mitch Mitchell or Moony
Moony. He is one of my favorite drummers.
8. Electric Ladyland or Who's Next
Electric Ladyland. I listen to it most nights before I go to sleep.
9. Townshend or Hendrix
Hendrix. Townshend is a great guitar player, but... Jimi was amazing.
10. Singing: Roger Daltrey or Jimi Hendrix
Roger Daltrey. I think that Jimi's voice was good, but I think he is much better at guitar than vocals. Roger's voice is very powerful, and I think it suits the songs well.
11. Better live band
Well.
After some consideration, I must say the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
12. More influential (measuring may be hard)
I do not know how to go about deciding that...
13. Who smashed guitars better
Pete Townshend.
14. Better band name
The Who. The Jimi Hendrix Experience is a mouth full when I am trying to say something quickly, and I hate abbreviating band names. The Who is just so easy to say.
15. "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" or "Won't Get Fooled Again"
"Lord knows I'm a voodoo child..."
16. Better Cover: Hendrix doing Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower" or The Who doing Mose Allison's "Young Man Blues"
All Along the Watchtower
Guitar Unique Color What type of guitar is this? I can't remember the name?
I want a guitar for my birthday...
Well my mom said I could get one for my birthday if I really wanted it and my friend got a guitar for Christmas that's really cute. It's silver sparkly and she said it's specially designed for girls since we have smaller arms and hands? I just can't remember the designer and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions too?
I like lime green, royal blue, bright colors basically. I also love sparkles and zebra/cheetah/leopard patterns. I don't want anything boring, I want it to be unique so it matches my personal style. Also I want an acoustic.
Thanks!
She's been sick.
I believe it is called Parlor Sized. You can find guitars at Wal Mart, but help a local instrument store and go there to find one. Also, I believe that guitar was featured in a Girl's Life Magazine. It was designed by Daisy Rock Guitars. The one I see was 240 bucks though and pink. Eep! Also, you could decorate your own acoustic guitar if you want, too.

What makes metal guitar brands like Jackson and ESP good for metal, rather than other genres?
Besides the unique shapes and colors.
Guitars are designed for 1 style of music in general...
What makes the difference?
- The Pick-Up's are designed for high gain, high distortion, high overdrive... They are high gain to make Tapping and shredding alot easier... They are designed to be used with distortion or overdrive pedals... If you wana play blues, then you'll want a warm, deep, bassy tone... For Metal, you want a harsh, More trebble tone...
So the pick-up's are the biggest difference...
Then The Neck - Frets - Action...
The Necks are designed to be shredded on... The Shape of the neck, the length of the neck, the width of the neck, the wood that is used for the neck and fingerboard, the size of the frets, the action of the strings...
All of these things are specially chosen for metal... Metal guitars have a "Thin U" neck... They have 24 frets... They have thin necks (in width) They use maple wood for the neck and ebony or rosewood for the fingerboards... They use Extra Jumbo Frets... They have a VERY low action...
All of these things contribute to making it easier for shredding, tapping, palm muting, fast rifts, sweep picking, economy picking, etc...
The Bridges on Metal guitars are capable of giving you a very very low action while cutting out fret rattle...
You see, when they design these guitars, they design them to be used for Metal... If you want a guitar for another genre, then the guitar will be designed TOTALLY differently...
Everything about these guitars is aimed at giving you the best possible sound, tone, and playability in one specific genre...
Electric Guitar Instruments Could you get an electric harp or sitar to sound more like an electric guitar?
Okay, I'm a little confused about how electric instruments work. There's a vast difference in sound between the electric and acoustic guitars. But with other electric instruments (at least ones that I've seen) they sound more or less the same. Is it possible to get an electric sitar or harp or lute to sound a little more... electric? Am I missing something?
hmmm ok let me try to explain...
instruments (except the guitar) are made electric just for the simplicity of things. this way while recording or doing a live show you dont need to use so many microphones. when its electric you can plug it right into the mixer or the DI box.
also with these modern mixers and programs such as protools there are so many effects and plug ins available that you can make anything sound as if its being played live/acoustically.
p.s.
to further answer your question, im sure you could get them to sound more like an electric guitar (even though it defeats the purpose for that particular instrument). i recorded an entire song with an acoustic guitar and made it sound like an electric with a distortion pedal and the natural acoustic back and forth.

Is an Electric Guitar hard to learn how to play?
I have wanted to learn to play the Electric Guitar for a few years, but have not played any musical instruments before, other than playing around with a Flute. Will it be too difficult to to start with this?
Everybody has to start somewhere. I've been playing for a few years, and as long as you committ yourself to it, its not that hard to get a grip on.
Special Telecaster what guitar type is best for a beginner?
I really want to start playing guitar, and I don't want to buy some high priced guitar for experienced guitarists for my first one..
Does anybody know a good guitar I should start off with?
Thanks if you answer!
and btw, i was really thinking about getting a Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar.
here is the link..
The Squier Pack is decent. I bought the Laguna Pack as my 1st guitar and the amp it came w/ kicks the Squeir packs ass. My friend has the Fender pack, and i the guiatr isnt bad at all. I like the fact that the Squier pack comes w/ a book, but the Laguna has a video. The Ibanez one is ok, but dont be a dummy and buy something outta a department store, please?

I never feel satisfied, what can I do?
I've been playing guitar for almost ten years and I've got a decent collection of instruments. A Strat with Texas Specials in it, a Telecaster, a Martin 12 string and even a Studio Les Paul. I love to play but I can't help but feel depressed every time I play. If I sit down and try to jam, I end up frustrated because I feel like I can never make the sounds I want to make, even though I'm really not sure what sounds I want to make. I see guys sit there and play several minutes of awesome music and its awesome to sit there and watch them play. I see people like Buddy Guy play and he just has the time of his life playing. I can listen to other people play all day long and love it, but when I play, I feel like I'm butchering the music. What can I do to make myself stop hating my own music?
You will always feel inferior comparing your playing to the masters. Find the music you really like to play then start listening to the music. Where do the breaks come in.? When do the riffs come? Really dissect a song you like then alter it a bit to suit your own style.
