I am learning to play the guitar and have bought a fender electric guitar. Any tips on getting started?

I have a DVD but its hard to keep interested as its canny hard. Any motivational tips would be good too?

Hey man, here's what you gotta do first, learn the chords G, C, and D. That is the building blocks, there are about seven chords that you need to know as a beginner. They are, G, C, D, F, E, B, and A. Got to this site for a nice little lesson on your first chords,

does Mini Fender (Squire) electric guitar mean "mini" as in smaller than others?

im just wondering cuz i saw this guitar in a classified and i wanna make sure it what i want. if youre confused about my question im just wondering what the seller mean by "mini" because i want a normal sized guitar. thx!

The mini is 3/4 size to a regular guitar. I was just on the BestBuy website and they have that guitar for $100 dollars. Guitar Center has some decent inexpensive guitars and you can try them out. They have alot of stores nationwide.

I'm a bassist, and over the years that I've been playing, I've tried a bunch of instruments, ranging in price. I think the best for under 500 would be an Ibanez or a Dean bass. I choose Dean, personally, because the neck is smooth, the tone is great, and it's just a great bass. I got mine on clearance for only 130 dollars at a local music store, but I know you can shop online for them if they're not available locally. :)

Hmmm… pretty diverse guitar styles are involved in those genres. I play a lot of Blink 182, Green Day, and Rage Against the Machine, and I use a 50's era highway strat reissue. It has good action and sounds nice either with distortion or clean. My dad has a guitar that's almost exactly the same and he's into the who, rolling stones, and zeppelin, so that's six of the bands you mentioned that work on the same guitar. So I guess my vote on the guitar is the strat. Can't help with the bass much. I have an Ibanez, but my focus is mostly on guitar and I can't really tell you what a good upgrade would be.
