I'm trying to find a setting on my guitar, amp, and pedals to get that clean, warm, and articulate sound kind of like this.
I have a self customized Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite from the early 90's with a Gibson Burstbucker Pro in the Bridge and a DiMarzzio PAF Joe Satriani in the neck. I have a stock Ibanez Artcore AF 75.
I'm playing through a Fender Super 112 amp, it's bassically the only decent of the red faced amps all tubes with 2 channels co-dependant tone knobs, reverb, presence, and "bright" knob
If anyone suggests a new pedal or tubes I'm fine but I'm not looking to change guitars or amps.
Thanks
Eric Johnson uses Fender Stratocaster guitars for the most part. In order to get an "Eric Johnson" sound your best bet is to actually BE Eric Johnson, but if I were you I would just experiment with what you have until you have a sound that YOU like. Don't forget that the sound you hear on You Tube is probably going to be highly inferior to other recordings due to "compression" of the audio (to save server space), so keep that in mind too. The best you can probably do is to use your neck position pickup and set your amp for as clean as you can possibly get it. As for pedals, try looking up Eric Johnson's website and seeing what he uses. Some of those pedals will not be cheap - he can afford the best now. I must also tell you this - even if you had Eric Johnson's guitar and amp and pedals you still won't sound exactly like Eric Johnson because you aren't Eric Johnson. There is nothing wrong with emulating a great tone, but you should find your own for YOU.
Silverburst Custom Epiphone Les Paul Ultra or Epiphone Les Paul Custom??? Read the detail at the bottom please. ?
I have been playing acoustic guitar for a little more than a year now. I want an electric guitar. I have 2 options Epiphone Les Paul Ultra, or the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst. Which one is better and better for a beginner at electric guitar, remember i have played acoustic for more than a year. Please tell me which one and why. note my favorite bands are GUNS N' ROSES and GREEN DAY thank you
Honestly, i would say based on your choices, you could pick either of the 2. Pretty much, they are the same guitar, just different hardward and such, and for a begginer such as yourself, getting the best guitar may not be the best choice. I suggest you choose by whatever guitar you think looks the coolest, or is the least expensive, so you can have a good foundation on yourself when you get a better guitar as you get better.
Are there any special companies that i can get a custom paintjob for my guitar from?
I need to find a store or special compaqny that will do a special paintjob for my guitar. I don't want a basic paintjob. I want something like a camo color or silverburst. I'm also looking for a reliable company that won't scam me. Also how much would this paint job cost. How much does a basic paint job cost?
Which one do you think would be for say a alt rockl/rocknroll/psychedelia/experimental thing, the ES 175 or the Emperor? What would you say the sound difference is between the two?
Im thinking about buying a epiphone emperor VC, the guy says the cable jack needs tightened and he says the action "seems fine" but needs to be "set up" by a guitar shop to be in tip top shape. So i was wondering how much would something like thhat cost? Also how much would it cost to fix a warped acoustic to tip top shape?
There's alot of different variables when it comes to repairs. It mainly depends on where you're going to get them done. If you're just going to some music store in the mall or something like that, they're going to charge you a bit more. To have a guitar set up (intonate it, clean it, tighten it, re-string it ect.) that could cost you anywhere between 30 - 60 dollars.
I highly recommend looking for a guitar repair specialist in your local area. I used a phone book to find a guy who does repair work on guitars for a living, and knows what he's talking about. You'll get a MUCH better service and MUCH better price out of someone like that, than just a retail guitar store somewhere.
As for fixing a warped acoustic guitar, that can be a bit of a bigger task. You'd have to have your repair guy, or store person take a look at it and give you a good idea. That can go from somewhere like 100 - 300 dollars.

MY DENTIST IS UNETHICAL! and at $1200 PER TOOTH!?
I went in for a new crown on a front eye tooth (fang) and was worried that my teeth were becoming different colors. Not wanting the new front crown to look obviously fake I asked for Lumineer's - new porcelian overlays put on top of your existing teeth, well she didn't. She suggested replacing a few old molars & supposedly putting porcelian "veneers" over the front teeth. I didn't care what she called them- I stressed I wanted UNIFORM WHITE teeth, straight across the top & I repeatedly asked her and everyone in the office, "are you sure these won't stain, turn brown & old looking like my 20 year old bottom crowns?" Response, "NO, THEY WILL NOT, BECAUSE THEY ARE PORCELIAN" One year later back in her office I am furious because the front teeth have turned a yellowish color and she says "Oh, those have just taken on the color of your natural teeth. If I'd wanted my natural color why grind down my natural teeth & put these on? She's unprofessional & greedy! Should I file in small claims?
What you have here is a case of misunderstanding. Your dentist told you correctly, porcelain doesn't tend to permanently stain. That doesn't mean it won't take on a coating of color, just like your normal teeth do. When you eat and drink, no matter how well you brush and rinse- a certain amount of stain will occur and get left behind. That gives each person their own individual tooth coloration, and why dentist do such a business in whitening and cleaning teeth. The price you paid for your crowns was actually pretty decent- and about the market price. So you weren't ripped off. Teeth still have to be prepped and etched for Lumineers you know? They can't hold on to the enamel without an acid etch to provide them something to grip onto. And honestly, I've seen some of the folks who have paid for those- and are not happy with them. One lady at church paid to have them done top and bottom all across the front. She also has had to have a couple redone, when they flaked off and took pieces of enamel along for the ride. Now she's into crowns, no other choice if she wants to save her teeth. I've had crowns for many years now, and I get them cleaned annually just as I would my natural teeth. Which by the way, didn't have enough enamel to begin with. My crowns were not because I wanted sparkling white teeth- they were so I could just have teeth. Crowns, like regular teeth, will eventually take on some amount of permanent stain as the years pass. If it really bugs you, you can always have them replaced with super white ones. I can also tell you the newer generation of crowns is more resistant to permanent staining than the old ones were. But having said that, there is nothing that is 100% stain proof. I'm sorry, but that's just the facts. I think the problem here is that you and she had a different understanding of things- and it wasn't ever made completely clear to you that what you thought would be possible wasn't entirely. Your dentist probably was thinking in dentist terms- that the temporary stains from eating are removable, not permanent staining. You thought it meant the stains would somehow slide off entirely. You are both partially right, and wrong. So, I don't suppose you would care to go back to this dentist- but just so you know before you go to another. I also just paid for a crown for a son't broken tooth not long ago, and had this discussion with the dentist at that time. The new repair was not an exact match of color-close but not exact. The dentist assured me that once all his teeth were cleaned, they would match, and that from that point on they would always match because it would take on the same color inbetween cleanings as the other teeth. And it has proven true. I'm sorry you had this experience, and hopefully you will find cleaning restores your nice white smile.
Ibanez G10 Electric Guitar Should I get another guitar?
I just bought an Ibanez G10 4 days ago. It's my first electric guitar.I've been playing acoustic for 3 months and now I've switched. So anyway,I just found out I'm gonna get a summer job for 3 weeks or a month and I might rack up at least 700$.So,should I buy a new guitar? If so,which one do you recommend? If not, then should I at least get some guitar accessories?
Well with $700 you can go a few ways. You could buy a guitar and a nice amp. Or one really nice amp or one really nice guitar. But if you go with just a guitar get one with a Floyd Rose in it. If you don't know what that is look it up, bands like metallica use it i think. the upper RG series Ibanezs are amazing. And if your going to be looking for an amp then Line 6, Mesa Boogie, and Randall are all ways to go
