Washburn Lyon Electric How do I fix my guitar neck?
Hi, I have an old electric washburn lyon and the neck is bowed making the strings pretty much from the 3rd fret to the bridge sit up an inch away from the fret board (an inch is super high). There's this rod thats poking out of the back of the neck (my deceased grandma got it from a garage sale a couple years ago )...Is their a way I can fix the neck from not being bowed? Thanks everyone.
Your best bet is to take it to your local music shop and have it looked at. More than likely your truss rod (that thing poking out of the neck) needs adjusting, and unless you have prior experience i do not recommend DYI. It could also have something to do with the action of your guitar, which is the height of the strings which is adjusted at the bridge. Ask about both of these settings when you bring it to a professional. It shouldnt cost very much (certainly under $100) and some local shops will do minor adjustments for free.
I'm looking to buy a new guitar and I have two models in mind:
the Dean Vendetta 4.0 in tiger eye --> http://www.amazon.com/Dean-Vendetta-Neck-Through-Solid-Guitar/dp/B0009K1ZYG
and
the DBZ Bird of Prey
red --> http://www.dbzguitars.com/thedarkside/bird-of-prey-red.php
green --> http://www.dbzguitars.com/thedarkside/birdofprey.php
I play mostly metal and blues, and occasionally some alternative. I tried to find guitars that are more oriented toward these styles (low neck action, light, etc.) but admittedly I know very little about guitar mechanics and builds.
Well anyway, opinions on the different models and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
i know a few things about guitars...but hell you should get the green one it looks badass! the color red has been used so much, i think the green will look more unique. makes ya stand out that much more, ya know. but that's only the image. i dont know what these guitars sound like. this si a rather random statement, but i heard Strats were good for metal, correct me if im wrong.
Black Flame Hard What solution can dissolve carbon black?
I heat an organic matter in a test tube to let it burn during an experiment. The organic matter has made the inner test tube sticked with carbon black. It is what like a test tube being heated under a yellow flame, producing carbon black underneath the test tube which is hard to scrub it away.
The simplest solution is to scrub them with test tube brush. But I have no it. I tried low boiling point organic solvent like turpentine. No reaction.
I need an organic solvent to dissolve the carbon black. I need experimented answer.
Tq very much.
Two solutions to use, but this still requires some scrubbing in some cases. Let it soak 5-10 minutes in the solution.
1. 10-15% KOH or NaOH
2. trisodium phosphate 57g, sodium oleate 28.5g, 470 mL of water.
Note that if you are using a thin wall test tube, soaking in KOH or NaOH may weaken the glass if soaked too long.
Does somebody with experience with guitars know a great acoustic-electric guitar to begin with?
i just want to start off with an acoustic, with the option of it being electric as well......but i dont know what to look for, or what is the best brand name. i'm looking to spend less than $400
also i want to get a mic, is there a really cheap mic with decent quality to mess around with?
If you want a good acoustic electric guitar than look no further. Takamine is your best bet soundwise, quality-wise and action-wise.
These guitars are very well factory set and have been around . I rarely get these for repairs and when I do, it is merely for a slight adjustment.
These gitars are durable, with low action, and low maintenance. You can get a good deal for $300 and you will be surprise at the awesome finish.
Ovation have a price range similar but, the true sound of an acoustic is Takamine vs Ovation. Ovation is good but so awkward if you want to play sitting down. I mean awkward.

Do you want a REAL Floyd or a LICENSED Floyd?
A REAL Floyd will probably not fit as it is not as compact while a Schaller Floyd should. Keep in mind that there will have to be major work done to the body to accomplish this including routing the front and back of the body, drilling anchor holes, and careful fitting which will easily cost more than the guitar and case combined.
If you want a good tremolo that will pretty much bolt on, look at a Kahler. They have several models that are relatively easy to install as long as you know how to measure within 1/64"... but the bridge alone will cost almost as much as the guitar.

Everytime i plug in my dean razorback into my Fender Frontman 25R i hear extra static. Everytime i touch the chord...the static goes away and everytime i adjust the the chord it goes a way for a little bit. How do i get rid of this static?
They do sell shielded insulated cords, make sure the female end on both the amp and guitar are tight. Some amps have a ground switch. The female connectors could have bad connections, Don't stand on cement floors, Try to keep cords straight and not over any other type of cords, you could have a bad pick up, do you get static when your plugged into another guitar or amp?
