Fender Strat Lefty what type of guitar did stevie ray vaughan use?
Obviously it was a fender stratocaster, but I noticed first off that the whammy bar is on the top side instead of the bottom, almost like a lefty with the headstock reversed. Also, this guitar looks earily similar, but I'm assuming he used an American not Mexi strat. ???http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Deluxe-Player-s-Stratocaster-Electric-Guitar-511597-i1147164.gc

Yeah, "First Wife" was a 1959 Strat. It had a lefty tremolo mainly because when Stevie broke the one originally on it, the only one he could find for sale was a left handed unit.
And Stevie's had a Rosewood fretboard and a black pickguard, whilst the one in the link is a maple fretboard with a tortoiseshell pickguard.
He also had Strats called Lenny, Red, Main, Yellow and Scotch, but First Wife is his most famous.
Is there a big difference between a fender strat and squier?
im trying to figure out which kind to get and there is a dramatic price difference, so im wondering if a strat is really worth it. its going to be my first electric guitar but i am experienced on acoustic if that matters, and a lefty if that matters. any help is greatly appreciated thank you
There's a big difference in quality of materials used between the Chineese-made Squier and the American or Mexican-made Fender. But each guitar varies slightly in feel and you might find a Squier that feels great in your hands. The electronics in any guitar can always be upgraded later. Seeing as you're just starting out, you might be better off buying the cheaper Squier. Look around and maybe you can find a good used pre-1985 Japanese-built Squier for less than a new Strat will cost. That would be a good option.
