Guitar Boomer Has anyone else had trouble with GHS bass boomer guitar strings?
I bought some a little while ago and am VERY dissapointed. They went from extremely bright to extremely muddy in a very short time.I take really good care of guitar.Clean the strings, keep it in tune, and dont bang it around etc... Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem.
Yes, Those are no doubt for the players that change strings every show and play every day. I have switched to coated strings on most of my guitars(elixir). They are OK sounding for a real long time. I use them on electrics and acoustics. I use Beard strings on the Dobro and lap steel.
i got a darkish read squier tele, and im thinking of buying a really cheap 'celebrity' tele copy pack. comes with amp, strap, strings, stand, picks etc for $139NZD. its white and has a black pickguard.
main reason for buying is my parents are split and i hate having to cart my guitar back and forth so i just want a spare.
i was thinking of swapping the two pickguards around.so ive got the black and red, then the white and white.
would this work? i mean it being a cheapo brand and not being the same as fender? the pickguards look pretty much the same but still not sure if they would fit.
if so, do you think this would look good?
heres the link to the guitars, in case that helps.

You could swap pick guards, but it might be more of a pain than it's worth.
You need to remember that the neck pickup is attached to the pickguard. So you will have to carefully (you don't want to pull the wires out of it) lift the pickguard and unscrew the pickup from the pickguard.
Also there are either springs or little rubber stoppers on the underside that help position the pickup's height, DON'T LOSE THEM!
You will also need to make note of how high the pickup protrudes throught the pickguard. You will need to replace them to the same height as you found them.
And remember, you will have to remove the strings to do all of this. And once you unravel the strings from the tuners, they're almost impossible to replace. So you will need 2 new sets of strings.
My advice would be to either forget swapping pickguards or bring them into a guitar shop and have a qualified guitar tech do it for you. It would be a simple job for him (or her) and they shouldn't charge you much.
Good luck. I hope this helps you.

If you are contemplating learning to play blues guitar music, you will need to learn a little music theory but you will also need to learn when to leave it at the door. If you have the kind of brain that thinks there is an "always play this note at the start of the bar", then you need to let go of that mindset.
The so-called "blue note" is a case in point. The blue note is the flattened fifth of the scale you are working in and when to play it does not follow nay rules. Your own musical feeling will tell you when you should play it or leave it out. To start you off as a blues guitar player, all you need is your pentatonic scales and some time to learn some licks from CDs.
Get some blues music onto your computer or your ipod and try to play along with the guitar. First, try and work out what key you should be in, then work on getting some approximate version of some of the licks you are hearing. You don't have to be one hundred percent accurate at first. You will improve as you go along.
What kind of guitar you choose to play blues music is a question that needs some serious thinking. You can play a Stratocaster or a Telecaster or a Gibson ES 35. The Tele sound is bright and the Gibson has a warmer sound. If you really don't have a clue and don't want to think about it too much, get a Strat. You can get a reasonable version of the Stratocaster for not too much money, so you can always change your mind when you have had a little experience.
A question that you don't hear discussed very often is the role of bass in blues guitar music. Some newbie guitar players find themselves attracted to the bass guitar but blues music does not give them too many role models to get a handle on how to play.
All the same, the bass does fulfill a significant function in blues music which can give a bass player plenty of scope for improvising solos. The main function of the bass is really to draw the melody and the rhythm together by adding some color to the rhythm section.
So, what are some good songs to start playing blues guitar with? The Wind Cries Mary by Jimi Hendrix, Pride And Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Right Next Door by Robert Cray and I Looked Away by Derek And The Dominoes give you a wide assortment of blues styles to study. Other artists you could look at are Albert King, Muddy Waters, Roy Buchanan, Robert Johnson and B.B. King.

Color Fender How much is my Fender Stratocaster worth?
I was just wondering out of curiosity how much my guitar is worth.. I have a 90s Japanese Fender Strat, sunburst color with a solid maple neck, and of course a few scratches and a little paint peel here and there.
Hello! I would guess realistically in the range of $500 to $900, if you can find the right buyer. Although not particularly rare, these are really nice guitars, and may be considered very desirable due to their decent quality and relatively low cost (as compared to the Fender American-made models). To check recent market value, take a look at listings on Craig's List and eBay, which will give you some idea of actual sales figures. You can also check the Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide (see http://www.amazon.com/Official-Vintage-Guitar-Magazine-Price/dp/1884883206/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236451496&sr=8-1 ), available at most local libraries and book stores (Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.). Look up your year and model, and it will give you the most realistic price range (based on comparable sales) the instrument would sell within. Best regards, Dana
1969 Fender Thinline custom Color sunburst all original Part 2
So I'm 14, and I play bass in my band. We cover a lot of classic rock, as well as RCHP type things. I'm getting a fender jazz, so what color should I get?
-Black
-Electron Blue
-Arctic White
-Brown Sunburst
-Midnight Wine
-Chrome Red
Also: I don't think I'm gonna get sunburst, cause I already have a stratocaster in sunburst.
oh yeah, we also play metal too.
yeah, probably, but i would ask the people at the place you are getting it from.
but i don't know about the stand... i don't think it would work that well.
What are the minimum dimensions that guitar case needs to fit a Gibson Flying V?
What are the minimum dimensions that guitar case needs to fit a Gibson Flying V?
I bought a faded V and I only got a gig bag. It's a pretty good gig bag, but a gig bag nonetheless.
If you haven't ever tried its really hard to find a well-priced hardshell case that fits alternative guitar shapes (BC Rich, V's, Explorers, and double-necks).
dude you got a flying V!!! so sick but sorry i dont know:(
Electric Guitar What is a good electric guitar for under 200 dollars that is not a squire?
I want to get an electric guitar for 200 dollars or less, and i dont want a squire, what are some good guitars for under that price, that aren't squires?
Ibanez RG120 right @180 I have one and its versatile and great
I wanna start electric guitar , do I need to learn classic guitar first ?
No. Not unless you want to.
What is important is that you learn the way you want to learn.
Too many people will tell you that "this is the right way" or "that is the right way" - the fact is there is no right way. Just look at some of the great blues players - technique-wise they would be regarded as terrible these days, but they sound awesome.
If you feel the need to get yourself a teacher make sure you learn what you want to learn, don't just become a clone of that person.
Music is all about individual expression not about following a list of rules.
